Day 1:
Kigali - Huye (Butare)

Your cultural adventure begins with your arrival in Kigali, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide. After a short briefing, depart for Huye (formerly Butare), located about 135 kilometers south of Kigali. Along the scenic drive, you’ll pass through lush landscapes and rolling hills characteristic of Rwanda’s countryside. Upon arrival in Huye, check in at Hotel Ibis Butare, a comfortable and centrally located hotel offering traditional hospitality and modern amenities. After settling in, enjoy an introductory walking tour of Huye town, visit local markets, and get your first taste of Rwandan cuisine over dinner. Spend the evening relaxing at the hotel in preparation for the next day’s cultural immersion.

Day 2:
The Ethnographic Museum

After breakfast at Hotel Ibis Butare, embark on a comprehensive exploration of the Ethnographic Museum, one of the finest museums in East Africa. The museum boasts an impressive collection of artifacts, including traditional crafts, royal regalia, musical instruments, and exhibits on Rwandan history, social structures, and traditional practices. Engage with interactive displays and take time to appreciate the richness of Rwanda’s cultural heritage. Day 3:
Nyanza Memorial Site and Return

After an early breakfast, check out and depart for Nyanza, home to the King’s Palace Museum and the Nyanza Memorial Site, significant landmarks in Rwanda’s royal and colonial history. Explore the reconstructed royal palace, complete with traditional thatched huts and royal regalia, and learn about Rwanda’s monarchic past and the last kings of Rwanda. Afterwards, visit the Nyanza Memorial Site, a place of remembrance and reflection. After a meaningful morning, begin your journey back to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or at Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your enriching 3-day cultural safari.
